First section of the Tajo Gorge Way for 300,000 euros

Ronda Town Hall faces its biggest challenge in recent years with the landscape, monumental and tourist development project, issuing contracts for works on the Caminito del Rey in its first section.

This project will have an investment of approximately €300,000, funded by three public bodies:

• The Andalusian Regional Government
• The Diputación of Málaga
• Ronda Town Hall

The path will run through the Tajo Gorge, with a length of 300 metres in its first section. To achieve this, the historic path on the left bank of the Tajo (following the riverbed) will be rehabilitated, from the place known as Casa de Manolillo, to the base of the right pier of the Puente Nuevo, before proceeding to a second, entirely different section, beneath the bridge.

The project includes the construction of a footbridge which will allow crossing the entire Tajo gorge and will form part of a circular route connecting this area with the Arab Baths, located in the Padre Jesús neighbourhood.
