Regulations governing public use of Caminito del Rey

Mandatory operating rules:

To visit the Caminito del Rey It will be a mandatory requirement to be in possession of the corresponding ticket, which will include the day and time of the visit, and it is also necessary to be able to leave the site. Access will always be, unless authorized, via the northern area (via Ardales) so that the visitor always goes downhill.
Minor visitors must be accompanied by an adult and must prove their age with their ID, passport or family record book.
The person holding the ticket will be the beneficiary of civil liability insurance that will cover any contingency that may occur during the visit from the entrance to the walkways until the exit, but only provided that said contingency has not occurred due to non-compliance with the established rules, or due to the exclusive fault of the visitor.
Visitors with a reservation must arrive at the chosen access area at least 30 minutes before the time indicated on the reservation receipt for the visit, in order to organize the visiting groups.
Visitors with the corresponding ticket will access the walkways directly through the north entrance. Access may only be obtained through designated areas, and entry and access to the area through any other area of the route is strictly prohibited, especially via the train tracks. Both the Provincial Council and the entity that may manage the equipment are exempt from any liability that may arise through any prohibited access.
Visitors are required to wear any safety equipment provided at the entrance.
People must always move on the right, a rule that must be observed especially on the walkways. When passing on the walkways, extreme caution must be taken to avoid endangering anyone standing on the railing next to the ravine.
All persons accessing the Caminito del Rey, and therefore the Paraje Natural Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, must observe these regulations as well as all those required in this area by the department responsible for environmental matters.

Since the visit takes place in a protected natural area with narrow passages at great heights, especially its walkways, and in order to preserve the natural values of the place and avoid endangering your own safety and that of other visitors, the following prohibitions must be observed in general:

Wearing inappropriate footwear for hiking (flip-flops, high heels or any other shoes that are not suitable for this activity or that may cause ankle injuries or falls is strictly prohibited) and wearing clothing that is inappropriate for the season in which the tour is being carried out.
Carry children or people of any age in any section of the walkways.
Use a harness or any other element to attach to the “lifeline” (cable) located on the walkways, as this is an obstacle that crosses the walkway and can endanger other visitors, possibly causing them to fall into the void.
Carrying backpacks, bags or purses or any other bulky transportable material. The use of “selfie sticks”, walking sticks and crutches is also prohibited.
Failure to correctly use the safety elements that, where applicable, are supplied or indicated at the access to the walkways.
Use an umbrella in case of rain. It is mandatory, where applicable, to use a raincoat or similar.
To abandon or throw away garbage.
Light a fire.
Smoking any type of substance.
Drinking alcoholic beverages and any food that is not included in the recommendations section (water, energy drinks, chocolates, energy bars, nuts and fruit).
Taking photos or recording with a tripod or any other element that may obstruct the smooth passage of other visitors.
Using drones or similar devices, unless expressly authorized by the competent Department of the Environment, when crossing a Natural Area with a significant community of birds.
Access this space in the company of animals.
Bathing in the river or its ponds.
Enter the canal tunnels.
Leaving the authorized trail in the Hoyo Valley area (risk of causing landslides).
To pull up plants or parts of them.
Shouting or listening to loud music.
Undress, take off your shoes or lie down in this space.
Damage rocks and other geological elements, such as fossils.
Make graffiti or any type of inscription, both on natural and artificial elements.
Scattering the ashes of the deceased.
Access with a baby stroller or similar, or with wheelchairs or any accessory that could hinder a possible evacuation.
Access to the premises with children under 8 years of age.
Selling and reselling tickets (reservations) or their counterfeits.

Visitors are obliged to strictly comply with these Rules of Use as well as those that, in response to unforeseen or unforeseen circumstances, must be adopted by the responsible personnel:

At the entrances to the premises and during the visit, the rules and instructions of the Control and Information staff as well as the Security staff must be respected. Extreme precautions must be taken to avoid falls, as well as to collaborate with the cleaning of the premises.
